A recent photoshoot by a newlywed couple near the Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Temple has drawn strong reactions from devotees and renewed discussions around the sanctity of religious spaces and adherence to temple regulations. Images and videos from the incident, which circulated on social media, triggered widespread criticism, with pilgrims calling the act inappropriate at one of India's most revered pilgrimage sites.

What Happened: Photoshoot Violated Temple Rules

According to local reports, the couple, adorned with wedding attire, had a photoshoot in areas around the temple, including Golla Mandapam and Akhilandam. In the video, they can be seen taking poses that were deemed to be inappropriate by many devotees in the temple, including some gestures of affection that go against the sanctity of the temple.

Tirumala's regulations explicitly prohibit professional photography, filming for social media reels, and similar staged shoots in the vicinity of the shrine to preserve the devotional environment.

Devotees expressed deep anger on social media, insisting that such staged photoshoots detract from the spiritual purpose of a temple visit and disrespect the many pilgrims who come with devotion and reverence.

Why the Outrage Is So Strong

The Tirumala Sri Venkateswara Temple is among the most-visited and holiest Hindu temples in India, with millions of devotees visiting every year. Because of its religious significance, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) has strict rules in place to protect the sanctity of the site. This includes a ban on activities such as professional photography, video shooting, and social media content creation, among others that could disturb the religious environment.

In recent years, the TTD has also publicly warned influencers and visitors against creating "problematic content" or reels near the temple that disrespect devotees or the shrine's traditions, and it has pledged strict action against those who violate these norms.

Devotees have also observed that despite these clear guidelines and warnings, the security personnel present at the site did not take any action to prevent the recently posted photoshoot.
